New national station to launch on DAB

A DAB Radio A new interactive radio station has launched on Digital One’s national DAB radio network today on a six-month pilot with a host of new music and new presenters.

Amazing Radio claims to be the “world’s first station playing 100% new music” and launches with a line-up of presenters who are new to radio in a bid to bring something different to the digital radio network.

The station will focus on brand new indie, urban, rock, jazz and pop music, with songs written and recorded by unsigned artists, according to the company behind it, The Amazing Media Group.

Artists featuring on the new station have been uploadeding their music to Amazing’s website over the past four years, as a means of promoting and selling their songs.

The site launched in 2006 and now has more than 15,000 tracks and an global audience of around 35 million people, according to The Amazing Media Group.

Amazing founder and former BBC producer, Paul Campbell, said: “There’s fantastic music on amazingtunes.com and our ‘ethical downloads’ give musicians the chance to make money from the songs they wrote and recorded. But we wanted to go further, to find new ways to get their talent noticed. It’s normally impossible for new artists to get onto big radio stations. So we made our own.”

The station also aims to promote upcoming presenters, called ‘unsigned voices’, and let listeners decide what they want to hear by selecting their own playlists.
