Google to launch business channel on YouTube

Google Logo Google is set to launch a new advice channel on YouTube featuring business professionals, such as the IPA’s president Rory Sutherland, advising companies on how to survive the economic downturn.

The new brand channel, which has been named ‘Survival of the Fastest’, will have three content streams aimed at different industries – marketing, e-commerce and finance, according to reports.

Survival of the Fastest, which also features videos from the Internet Advertising Bureau’s chief executive Guy Phillipson and the Mayor of London Boris Johnson, is being launched in conjunction with The Daily Telegraph and the London Business School.

Google has set the channel up so that users can subscribe, vote on videos, leave comments, upload their own videos and reply directly to the experts, in a bid to create an online business community in the spirit of YouTube.

YouTube is currently the most popular video website in the UK, picking up 62.9% of all visits to video websites during February 2009 (see UK traffic to video websites up 40.7%).
