Yahoo! unveils its new homepage

Yahoo! Logo Yahoo! has unveiled its revamped homepage today with new features including integrated social networks such as Google and Facebook.

The new opt-in site has been made available in the US today and will be released across Yahoo!’s international properties throughout the rest of the week, including the UK.

Yahoo!’s chief executive Carol Bartz said the redesigned homepage, which aims to increase both traffic and ad revenue as well as gain ground on rival search engines, is the company’s most “radical” homepage yet.

The new-look site now features links to third-party sites and focuses on Yahoo!’s successful personalisation service My Yahoo, which allows users to add services and applications from Yahoo! and other providers.

Users will be able to access third party sites without having to leave the main Yahoo! page and are served with targeted advertising whenever they do.

The new homepage also allows users to customize the Yahoo! news platform so that they are only shown stories which they are interested in.
