ITV1’s viewing share was down 1.6 percentage points year on year in June, with BBC One also down over the same period.
ITV1’s share now rests at 16.2% following a year on year fall. It was a poor month for the channel, despite the relative success of shows such as Real Crime (see Overnights: Real Crime secures the top spot).
The end of the month saw a peak of 11.8 million viewers tune into BBC One for Andy Murray’s match against Switzerland’s Stanislas Wawrinka (see Overnights: Andy Murray’s late night victory pulls in 11.8m viewers). As well as the start of Wimbledon, Top Gear also made a welcome return to screens (see Overnights: All-new Top Gear is a hit).
The channel’s viewing share was still down year on year, however, with a dip of 0.8 percentage points leaving its total at 21.3%.
BBC Two recorded a 0.4 percentage point fall to 7.7%, while Channel 4 fell 1.6 percentage points to 6.9%.
Five was relatively static year on year, up 0.1 percentage point to 5.1% in June.
Other channels were up 4.3 percentage points year on year, to 42.2%.
Five also did well in digital homes, with a 0.3 percentage point increase, taking its share to 4.9%.
ITV1 was down 1.4 percentage points year on year, to 15.2%, while Channel 4 was down by 1.3 percentage points to 6.5%.
BBC One and Two were down 0.6 percentage points and 0.3 percentage points respectively. BBC One now has a 20.1% share of viewing in digital homes, while BBC Two’s stands at 6.9%.
Other channels in saw their viewing share increase by 3.4 percentage points to 45.6%.
