Dow Jones Is Latest Publisher To Issue Profits Warning

Publishing group Dow Jones has warned that its profits are likely to be far lower had been expected due falling ad revenues at its Wall Street Journal newspaper.

Dow Jones is yet another company to feel the squeeze of contracted adspend, with the New York Times Co. making a similar statement earlier in the week (see New York Times Warns Of Ad Revenue Slowdown) and ABN Amro warning that United Business Media will be affected by a hi-tech slowdown (see UBM Could Be Hit By Hi-Tech Ad Slow-Down, Warns ABN Amro).

Dow Jones says that it anticipates earnings of 16-20 cents a share this quarter; forecasts were for around 56 cents.
