Bertelsmann Chief Leaves Vivendi Board

Thomas Middelhoff, chief executive of German media group Bertelsmann, is resigning from his position on the board of French media and utility conglomerate Vivendi Universal, it has been announced this morning.

Middelhoff is leaving Vivendi in order to allow tougher competition between the two companies in the European media sector. He has been on the Vivendi board since May 1999 and was knowledgeable in the strategies of both groups.
