IPC Appoints Auton As New Chief Executive

IPC Media has announced that Sylvia Auton, managing director of its Country & Leisure Media Group, is to replace Sly Bailey as chief executive.

Auton will fill the position, which became available last November when Bailey shocked the media industry by stepping down to take up the chief executive position at Trinity Mirror (see Bailey Leaves IPC To Replace Graf At Trinity Mirror).

Announcing the appointment, Ann Moore, chairman and CEO of IPC’s parent company, Time Inc, said: “IPC has demonstrated that itÂ’s a tremendously robust business with a portfolio of strong brands and an outstanding management team. WeÂ’re delighted that Sylvia will be running this vitally important operation for us.”

Auton, who has held a number of senior executive positions at IPC, will report to Time Inc’s executive vice president and CFO, Richard Atkinson. Atkinson will oversee the running of IPC Media following news that Michael Pepe, president of Time Inc, is leaving the company in April.

Atkinson said: “Sylvia is a dedicated and gifted manager who has always commanded the respect, admiration and loyalty of her staff. SheÂ’s truly a consummate publishing professional with the experience, skill and vision to lead IPC smartly forward.”
