Capital And GWR In Merger ‘Negotiations’

City stockbroker’s have added further fuel to the rumours surrounding the alleged consolidation between Capital Radio and GWR Group, after a meeting with the finance director of Capital, left the team convinced ‘the two companies are far into negotiations’.

The media team at stockbroker Panmure Gordon caught up with Peter Harris on Wednesday and said the two radio groups are discussing a nil-premium merger, reports The Guardian.

Analyst, Jesper Jensen said in a note to clients: “We believe the two companies are far into the negotiations but at the moment appear to be stuck on management issues and relative valuations.”

Sources close to Capital and GWR are reported as being wary of Jensen’s comments but would not be surprised if discussions had stalled because of a row over management positions.

Both chief executives, David Mansfield at Capital and Ralph Bernard at GWR are highly ambitious and would give almost anything to run what would be Britain’s leading commercial broadcaster.
