Publicis Revenues Up 4.5% With Encouraging Growth Worldwide

Publicis Groupe, owner of media buying giants ZenithOptimedia, announced today that revenues for the second quarter of 2004 rose by 4.5% as Europe, along with all other operating regions showed encouraging growth.

Although steadily picking up, growth in the European market still lagged behind the rest of the world with growth of 2.2% taking revenues to â‚Ź401 million, but by 2005 Publicis has predicted that Europe should catch up and equal the United States.

North America and Asia-Pacific both produced steady growth for the French based company, with revenues up 3.7% to â‚Ź427 million and 6.7% to â‚Ź95 million respectively, while Latin America experienced an exceptional recovery growing by 35.3% from April to June 2004 to produce revenues of â‚Ź41 million.

Maurice Levy, chairman and chief executive officer said: “Growth in all parts of the world and in all industries has been encouraging and Publicis Groupe has take advantage of this trend. Developments in the second quarter of 2004 were in line with our projections including consolidation of growth in North American and Asia and a slight rise in Europe.”

The positive results achieved during the first half of this year look set to be a springboard for the rest of the year as Levy said: “In the second half of the year, we anticipate consolidation of market growth and we have full confidence the Publicis Groupe will be able to take advantage of this.”

Levy posted an upbeat outlook for Europe next year when he said: “First indications for 2005 market growth are that Europe should equal the US, no longer driven by the run-up to the presidential elections. Based on current forecasts, our growth objects should remain firm.”
