Kinetic Goes Public As Portland Joins Poster Publicity

Outdoor specialists Poster Publicity and Portland end months of speculation today with the official launch of their combined entity, Kinetic.

The launch represents the first stage in the company’s drive to become the world’s “foremost agency at communicating with people on the move”, creating a worldwide network which will focus on advertisers’ needs in the changing media landscape.

The development of the Kinetic network will take place in stages, ultimately leading to the employment of over 300 staff across offices in over 35 countries. The first stage comprises the launch of Kinetic in UK, the US, Switzerland, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, the Philippines and Malaysia. The company plans to have other major markets in place before the end of 2005.

Kinetic worldwide will be responsible for the co-ordination of several major advertisers, including Bacardi Martini, Estée Lauder, Samsung and G Star. The company’s enlarged business will be overseen by global CEO, Eric Newnham, and his team.

Ron Graham, managing director of Asia Pacific will continue in his lead of the region, while Mike Segrue becomes global chief client officer and Paul Shearring becomes managing director of UK. Alex Thompson takes on management of the European network as COO, while Steve Ridley will head up the US.

Commenting on the launch of the new company, Eric Newnham said: “We believe that Kinetic is reflective of the strength of our approach and the excitement we feel as the OOH medium advances. As a worldwide network we are perfectly placed to take advantage of new technologies and have the ability to service the needs of our clients on a global basis. Clients want a global perspective when planning their outdoor media campaigns and Kinetic’s broader and deeper reach allows it to deliver this.”

Ron Graham added: “Kinetic will enable us to deliver a broader offering across all ‘Out Of Home’ formats and encourage further investment in this dynamic sector. We are keen to build on our past business successes and consolidate our existing relationships. Kinetic is without doubt a strong and independent choice for both clients and suppliers.”

The new name and management structure of Kinetic was revealed last week, with the company’s staff first introduced to the new branding on Friday afternoon. The new company’s formal launch puts an end to speculation which has surrounded the merger of Poster Publicity and Portland since May.
