JC Decaux Launches Strategic Outdoor Planning Division

Outdoor advertising group, JCDecaux has announced the launch of Open@JCDecaux, with the new division aiming to transform strategic planning within out-of-home and open up new channels of communication for its clients.

The new department will be in charge of providing clients with an independent resource, offering strategic planning advice and accountable campaign analysis and research.

Speaking about the initiative, Spencer Berwin, JCDecaux’s group sales director said: “The opportunities now available in the out-of-home market are streets ahead of where they were even two or three years ago. Open@JCDecaux will keep our clients ahead of the game, devising ways to create imaginative and outstanding campaigns and helping them understand the breadth of opportunity available.”

Berwin continued: “The launch underpins our commitment to delivering the highest levels of creativity and innovation to our clients.”

Open@JCDecaux will be headed by Craig Willis, joining the company from Media Planning Group (MPG) where he held the position of Strategic Planning Director.

Commenting on his new position, Willis said: “I’m looking forward to launching the new division and to helping our clients maximise the potential of the outdoor medium. Out-of-home is such a dynamic medium, evolving all the time, with a huge amount to offer for creating the ultimate method of communication.”

George Bryant, planning director of AMV BBDO added: “Our clients invest heavily in the outdoor medium so any set-up that can help us make that investment work harder is welcomed. The media landscape is evolving at a terrific pace and we need to be kept aware of the opportunities with regards to technology, digital, research, creativity and accountability and a move like this helps the whole industry to move forward.”

Earlier this year JCDecaux revealed a 5.4% year on year increase in revenue for the first nine months of 2005, reaching €1.2 billion, with organic revenues seeing a rise of 3.8% in the same time (see JCDecaux Sees 5.4% Revenue Increase).
