BT has announced a major restructure which it says will lead to significant cost savings, to be outlined in next month’s financial results.
Green’s new position will be chief executive of group strategy and operations, which has led some to believe that he is being groomed as a successor to current chief executive Ben Verwaayen.
However, Verwaayen has denied that Green is being groomed for the role. He was quoted by the Guardian as saying: “You guys want to see a drama, look somewhere else – there is nothing here to satisfy your thirst.”
The changes will see BT pool 20,000 IT and network experts from across the group, speeding up the creation and launch of new products.
