Sale Of Emap’s Irish Stations Approved

The sale of Emap’s Republic of Ireland radio business to Communicorp Group has been approved.

It was announced last July that Emap had made a conditional sale of its Irish stations to the Irish and European radio group Communicorp for £135 million, subject to regulatory clearances.

However, the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland did not approve the sale of Emap’s Dublin station and Communicorp was made to sell it to UTV (see UTV Acquires Dublin Radio Station).

At the end of December, Guardian Media Group and private equity firm Apax agreed to buy Emap’s B2B magazine and exhibitions business (see Emap Sells B-2-B to GMG).

The offer was accepted by Emap’s board and is now awaiting shareholder approval.
