BT’s Pre-tax Profits Decline

BT’s financial results for the final three months of 2007 show that its pre-tax profits fell 30% to £447 million while revenues rose 1% to £5.15 billion.

Ben Verwaayen, BT chief executive, said: “This has been another solid performance. We have delivered our twenty third consecutive quarter of year on year earnings per share growth.

We remain the UK’s number one retail broadband provider with 35% of the installed DSL and LLU base, and BT Vision customers more than doubled in the quarter.”

BT also revealed that its BT Vision service has seen its subscriber numbers grow to more than 150,000 since its launch just over a year ago.

According to BT’s quarterly results the broadband TV service finished 2007 with 120,000 customers and has since added more than 30,000.

The results also showed that BT signed up 177,000 broadband subscribers in the final quarter of 2007, taking its total to 4.25 million.
