Low Income Users Are Largest Group Online

According to latest figures from internet monitering company NetValue, low income earners (those earning under £600 a month) make up the largest group of net users, 26.9%.

“The Internet is not reserved for a rich elite”, NetValue’s Alki Manias said. “These figures show that the web is being welcomed by low income earners. Online businesses have to recognise that the Internet market is every bit as diverse as the high street market, and not limited to big earners”. Only 8.3% of all internet users fell into the ‘£4,000 and above’ income group.

In April, NetValue report, almost 18,000,000 accessed the internet in the UK, 45.5% from home, 12.6% and work and 18.2% have access both at home and at the office. Men make up 59.1% of users and 19.2% were aged over 50.
