US E-Commerce Forecasts Comparisons From eMarketer

Overall US e-commerce will increase by more than 57% this year to reach $482 billion by the end of 2002, according to new report from eMarketer.

The North America eCommerce: B2C & B2B study says that that more than half of the 123.4 million US internet users aged 14 or over – 68.9 million people – will purchase goods and services online over the course of 2002.

In 2001, B2C sales totalled $49.8 billion. eMarketer projects that online sales will grow to $75 million in 2002 and reach $155.6 billion by 2005.

E-business budgets to outgrow IT spend The report also says that despite last year’s slowdown in IT spending, many companies’ e-business budgets will grow by as much as 10% this year, ‘easily outpacing the rate of overall IT spending growth.’
