A Quarter Of All US Dial-Up Subscribers Are Considering Switching To Broadband

Jupiter reports that whilst only 16% of online households in the US subscribe to broadband, more than 24% of all dial-up consumers are considering signing up for broadband services within the next 12 months.

According to two new Jupiter Broadband Reports, dial-up consumers “favour utility over entertainment, even though companies catering to a broadband audience emphasise entertainment and rich-media applications.”

The top motivator of dial-up users planning to switch to broadband is now the ability to have an “always on” connection (59% of those surveyed cited this as their primary reason for a planned shift to a broadband connection). Entertainment-related features such as the ability to view quality video was most important for 26% of potential subscribers and listening to audio was the draw for 15%.
