Telewest Brings Broadband Internet To South-West England

Telewest Communications, the UK cable operator, has extended its high-speed Blueyonder internet service to Devon and Cornwall, offering the south west of England broadband access to the web.

Telewest’s broadband coverage now reaches a number of regions across the length of England and parts of Scotland. In many of Telewest’s coverage gaps, rival group NTL has a cable presence and is also offering broadband internet in some of these regions.

Broadband uptake is currently very strong in the UK and forecasts from Continental Research suggest that around 700,000 homes plan to upgrade to a high-speed connection within the next twelve months (see UK Web Users Catching The Broadband Bug, Says Research).

A separate study by NOP found that the number of broadband internet users in Britain has risen by 60% in the last six months, to reach a penetration of 8% of all web users (see Britons Latching Onto The Benefits Of Broadband).
