Most Net Users Have Shopped Online, Says Survey

A new survey has revealed that 93% of US internet users have made a purchase online although privacy and security concerns mean that less than 40% are regular web shoppers.

The study by market researchers at Ipsos-Reid showed that attitudes to e-commerce are changing with 64% of respondents claiming that they are now more likely to shop online than they were two years ago. Some 71% said that they planned to purchase a gift via the internet during the holiday season.

When questioned on their reservations about online shopping, 65% of respondents said that they were worried about having personal information sold to a third party while 36% still harbour concerns about transmitting their credit card details.
