ITV’s Market Share To Fall 2% Points In 2003, Says Merrill Lynch

ITV’s share of the television advertising market is set to drop by two percentage points next year, as around 70% of the Network’s advertisers renegotiate their new annual contracts at the end of this year. This is according to a new set of estimates from Merrill Lynch.

Analysts at Merrill say that ITV’s share of the market will fall from an expected to 53.6% this year to 51.5% in 2003.

The UK TV market as a whole is forecast to grow by 3.3% next year; Merrill is downgrading its ITV revenue growth forecast from 0.5% to -0.7%. However, it has upgraded its growth forecast for the final quarter of this year, to 2.7%.
