Total US magazine advertising revenue rose by 11.6% year on year in March, closing at $1.6 billion, according to the latest information from the Publishers Information Bureau (PIB). Ad pages for the month totaled 21,561, up 9.1% from last year.

“We are pleased that the first quarter of 2003 closed on a positive note,” said Ellen Oppenheim, executive vice president of the Magazine Publishers of America (MPA). “Most categories experienced gains, but the standouts are still Automotive, Drugs & Remedies and Home Furnishings & Supplies. From what we’ve been hearing, maintaining market share continues to be a major concern for the Automotive category,” she added.
