Nearly 70 million Americans access the internet using a high-speed connection according to a new report from the Pew Internet & American Life project.
Cable currently has the largest share of the home broadband market but Pew says that a growing number of users are adopting DSL and this has pushed the rise in broadband.
The main reason why those surveyed had switched to broadband were sited as speed of dial-up (36%) and faster file downloads (21%).
