March was a record month for WAP page impressions when 1.4 billion were viewed in the UK, the highest number ever recorded says the Mobile Data Association (MDA).
From February, WAP pages viewed increased by over 130 million to provide the highest monthly figure recorded since counting began in September 2002. This takes the daily average to 45 million, more than double the daily average of 18 million for the same period last year.
The total of WAP page impressions for 2004 is expected to reach 13 billion. Mike Short, MDA chairman, said: “These figures illustrate a growing interest in accessing the web via mobile and downloading a variety of content via WAP technology.”
