Blinkbox has signed a new distribution deal with the British Film Institute to broadcast a number of classic films online.
The deal will enable the film and TV site to show 37 full-length and 24 short British films from the BFI’s catalogue, according to reports.
The films will be entirely ad-funded. although users will be able to purchase or rent a special BFI film of the month.
Peter Fydler, head of business to business sales at BFI, said: “We aim to deliver as broad a choice of film as possible to everyone in the UK by widening access to the collections in the BFI National Archive.
“This relationship with Blinkbox helps us reach a much younger audience and provides the ability for people to interact with the films creatively.”
