Digital Radio UK has appointed the former head of Digital UK Ford Ennals as its new chief executive.

Ennals appointment comes on the same day as the Digital Economy Bill is published, which sets out plans for the radio industry to move towards a digital future.

At his time at Digital UK, Ennals was responsible for all operational and strategic activity as well as heading up the television digital switchover strategy.

Since his departure in early 2008, he has worked for Nike Inc as president of global commerce in the US.

In the past, Ennals has also held a number of senior positions for companies including Universal Music, Lloyds TSB, British Airways and Reebok.
