Ex BBC chief Richard Ayre is set to replace Richard Tait as a BBC Trustee in August.
The former deputy chief executive of BBC News and the controller of BBC editorial policy will take over from Tait on August 1 for a four year term, according to reports.
Ayre is also an Ofcom content board member for England and chair of the media regulator’s broadcasting review committee.
However, he will give up his duties at Ofcom before starting at the BBC Trust.
Ayre is expected to be paid around £40,000 a year and work two days a week.
