The latest television viewing figures show that ITV1 and BBC One both saw their viewing shares fall in February 2010.

ITV1’s share was down 1.8 percentage points year on year, while BBC One suffered a 0.7% percentage point dip.

Channel 4 was also down, although Five managed to remain relatively static on February 2009.

All Viewing

ITV1’s viewing share now stands at 16.9%, down from 18.7% a year previously, while BBC One’s share rests at 20.5%.

A one percentage point year on year drop means Channel 4 now has a 6.3% share of viewing, while Five was down 0.1 percentage point, leaving it at 4.8%.

BBC Two was down 0.3 percentage points on February 2009, to 7.5%.

Other channels were up 3.8 percentage points year on year to 43.3%.

Digital Viewing

Looking at digital homes, Five was static at 4.8%, while Channel 4 was down 0.6 percentage points year on year to 6.1%.

A fall of 1.3 percentage points leaves ITV1 with a 16.5% share of viewing in digital homes.

Of the BBC channels in our report, BBC One was down slightly, by 0.1 percentage point to 19.9%, while BBC Two was up by the same amount, to 7.1%.

Other channels’ viewing share increased by 2 percentage points in digital homes, to 45%.

Sky and Freeview Homes

BBC One had a 23.6% share of viewing in Freeview homes and a 17.5% share in Sky homes. ITV1, meanwhile, had an 18.6% share in Freeview homes and a 14.7% share in Sky homes.

Other channels had a 53% share in Sky homes and a 34% share in Freeview homes.
