Yahoo! signs Premier League highlights deal

Yahoo! has secured the rights to show UK Premier League online highlights for the 2010 to 2013 seasons.

From the start of next season, Yahoo! will show a five-minute highlights package of every match on Yahoo.co.uk, according to reports.

Highlights of the games will be made available from midnight on Sunday after weekend matches and at midnight on the same day of week night fixtures.

Rich Riley, Yahoo!’s European managing director, said: “The acquisition of Premier League rights shows how serious Yahoo is about providing the best in video content for our both our users and advertisers.”

The deal also gives Yahoo! the right to syndicate all, or part, of the Premier League highlights content to third parties.

Virgin Media currently have the rights to show Premier League highlights.
