ITV1’s Live UEFA Champions League coverage of the second-leg semi-final match between Barcelona and Inter Milan attracted a high of more than 6.3 million viewers last night.
The game dominated the evening’s ratings, holding on to the peak audience share from kick-off until 9.45pm, when it lost out to the end of BBC One’s long-running Crimewatch programme.
Crimewatch pulled in an average of 3.9 million viewers and a 17% audience share during the all-important 9pm to 10pm peak-hour, but hit a high of 4.6 million viewers in the final fifteen minutes after the match was over.
Elsewhere during the 9pm to 10pm slot, BBC Two, Channel 4 and Five all managed to secure an equal 1.9 million average viewers each. However, BBC Two’s second Monty Hall’s Great Hebridean Escape just managed to pip the others to third place with a slightly higher 8.2% share.
Meanwhile, Channel 4’s Jamie Does – Stockholm and Five’s ever-popular NCIS both settled on a 8.1% share during the hour-long slot.
