According to a new survery from Ipsos OTX for Askmen.com, Facebook is now the second most popular way to keep in touch with friends, with 30.1% saying it was their primary choice.

This means it is catching up with text messaging, with 31.8% of respondents selecting that as their primary way of staying in touch.

In fact, for younger respondents (those between the ages of 15 and 28), Facebook has already taken over text messaging as the primary way of staying in touch.

Facebook usage was high in general, according to the survery, with almost 69.6% of respondents saying that they logged on to the site regularly.

Twitter was found to be much less popular, with a much smaller 8.5% of men saying that they used it regularly.

Almost 60% said they didn’t use it because it was “useless”, and another 12% said they did not understand what it was.

Only 0.3% of respondents said it was their primary method of staying in touch with friends.
