Social networking has surpassed TV viewing as the biggest waste of people’s time, according to Advertising Week.
“Here’s a sign of social networking’s growing presence in modern life: It has surpassed TV viewing as the preeminent waster of people’s time,” the article reads.
A new 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair poll found that 36% of people said social networking was their biggest waste of time, when asked to choose from the following six activities – social networking; fantasy sports; watching television; shopping; reading and ‘your job’.
36% chose social networking, putting it a fair way ahead of fantasy sports (25%) and watching television (23%). Shopping came lower down the list (with 9%), while reading and your job were both seen as fairly importantly (with 2% each).
