Last night’s X Factor results show on ITV1, pulled in an impressive average audience of over 14 million. The programme, which featured the first live performance on British television of the cast of hit US show Glee, peaked its viewing at 15.7 million during the last fifteen minutes of broadcast.
Meanwhile the Ann Widdicombe bandwagon came to a juddering halt, with 11.7 million tuning in to see the ex-minister get booted off BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing. This was 100,000 viewers up on last week’s results show, with ratings for the programme steadily increasing as the series nears its conclusion.
ITV1’s The Nation’s Favourite ABBA Song managed to win its 9pm ratings battle with BBC1’s Garrow’s Law, with an average audience of 5.4 million watching the former and 4.8 million watching the latter.
BBC2’s Operation Mincemeat attracted the highest ratings for the channel, with 2.8 million people watching the WWII documentary detailing how Britain deceived Hitler over it’s 1943 invasion plans.
At the same time over on Channel 4, the penultimate episode of the adaptation of William Boyd’s Any Human Heart, attracted 1.3 million viewers. This was the channel’s third highest rated programme after movie premiere Fred Claus and Deal Or No Deal, which had respective audiences of 3.2 and 1.7 million.
Meanwhile Five’s movie-dominated Sunday schedule proved to be popular with viewers Cats and Dogs, Firefox and xXx2:The Next Level all pulled in average audience ratings of over 1 million.
