TV Overnights: ITV1’s The Biggest Loser wins the peak spot with 3.9m viewers

The penultimate episode of ITV1’s The Biggest Loser won the 9pm to 10pm peak-hour ratings with a high of 3.9 million viewers last night.

The hour-long show, which saw the remaining contestants fly to Cyprus to face another challenge before next week’s final weigh-in, attracted 3.7 million average viewers and a 14.8% audience share during the all-important 9pm to 10pm slot.

BBC One’s Outcasts was ITV1’s closest competitor for the peak-hour audience, pulling in 2.7 million average viewers and a 10.8% audience share, though Channel 4’s real-life documentary One Born Every Minute was not far behind with 2.6 million viewers and a 10.6% share.

On Channel 5, the third episode in the five part series Royal Navy: Caribbean Patrol achieved an average audience of 2 million viewers and a 8.1% share, while BBC Two’s new series When Teenage Meets Old Age picked up 1.9 million average viewers and a slightly lower 7.9% share.

Earlier on in the evening, the soaps dominated the pre-watershed slots. ITV1’s Coronation Street won the highest overall audience of the night, peaking with more than 9.8 million viewers, while Emmerdale attracted 8.1 million viewers.

BBC One’s Eastenders, meanwhile, banked a high of 9.4 million viewers and a 35.5% average audience share between 8pm and 8.30pm.
