Rivals join forces for TV spectrum research

A consortium, including the BBC, BSkyB, BT, Samsung and Microsoft, are joining forces to investigate how used TV spectrum can be utilised for commercial wireless services.

Calling themselves the Cambridge TV White Spaces Consortium they plan to undertake technology trials to explore how the unused TV spectrum could provide an inexpensive solution to satisfy the escalating wireless connectivity requirements of UK consumers and businesses.
