According to statistics from InMobi, the iPhone has surpassed Nokia and Samsung to become the most popular mobile ad platform in Europe. It generated over 500 million impressions.

The mobile ad network registered 3.8 billion European mobile users in May, with Apple commanding a 19.5% share of all impressions in Europe.

Samsung and Nokia each commanded an 18% share of the total European market, with RIM and HTC commanding 16% and 11% respectively.

InMobi also claimed that 62% of total ad impressions were from smartphone users, but that 80 million impressions during the period were generated by iPad owners, giving it a 2.2% overall share during May.

However, with the inclusion of tablets, Android devices are still the most popular platform on the network in Europe, having generated 993 million impressions (26.9%) while those running on iOS generated 719 million (19.5%).
