The BBC’s first foray into internet connected televsion apps is proving very popular with users.

The BBC news app reached 17,000 downloads in its first week on the Samsung smarthub connected tv device.

The app is already available on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, with over six million views globally, around half from the UK, reports Strategy Eye from the recent Intellect conference in London this week.
