ABC October 2011: MailOnline Reports Record Traffic

Most of the online UK national newspapers saw an increase in traffic in October with MailOnline continuing to draw in the most traffic, according to data released today by ABC. September saw all of the ABC audited national newspaper sites down in popularity but the data for October see a reversal for most.

All sites, bar The Independent, saw an increase in Daily Unique Browsers visiting the sites with MailOnline reporting a 12% increase. The Associated Newspapers site reported a record amount of traffic for October with on average 4.6 million Unique Browsers visiting the site daily with a total of 79 million across the month.

Guardian.co.uk witnessed a similar month on month percentage rise and remained the second most popular online national. On average, an extra 360,000 browsers visited the site on a daily basis compared to September, giving the The Guardian site a 12% increase. On top of this October saw an overall increase in Page Impressions across the month, rising by 42 million.

The Telegraph’s site gained an extra 7 million Unique Browsers over the month and increased average daily visits by 15%. The Independent didn’t fare so well, shedding 47,000 Daily Unique Browsers month on month (-7.1%).

The Sun, which hasn’t made its online ABC figures available for some time, returned to the fold in September. October saw the News International site’s Daily Unique Browsers increase by 4%, with a total of 25 million Unique Browsers visiting across the month.

Mirror Group Digital had the biggest percentage increase in October, with a rise of 17%, meaning that on average an extra 104,000 browsers visited the site on a daily basis.
