TV Overnights: Final Young Apprentice wins 4.7m viewers

BBC One’s final Young Apprentice easily claimed the peak-hour ratings with a high of 4.7 million viewers last night.

The last in the series attracted more than 4.3 million average viewers and a 17% audience share during the 9pm to 10pm slot, beating ITV’s new documentary The Real Thumbelina to the top spot.

The Real Thumbelina claimed 3.5 million average viewers and a 14% audience share for ITV1, though the channel’s pre-watershed line-up dominated the Monday night ratings.

Emmerdale pulled in more than 7.8 million peak viewers in the 7pm to 7.30pm slot, while the first trip to Coronation Street gained a high of 8.9 million viewers in the 7.30pm to 8pm slot.

After a short break, the second episode of Corrie banked a peak audience of 8.3 million viewers before the 9pm peak-hour (not including ITV1 HD).

Elsewhere during the 9pm to 10pm slot, BBC Two’s one-off I Had the X Factor… 25 Years Ago: A Wonderland Special secured over two million average viewers and a 8.1% audience share, while Jimmy’s Grow Your Own Christmas Dinner picked up 1.7 million viewers and a 7% audience share for Channel 4.

On Channel 5, the penultimate episode of Charley Boorman’s Extreme Frontiers achieved an average audience of 818,000 viewers between 9pm and 10pm.
