BSkyB faces ‘fit and proper’ inquiry

Ofcom is set to launch an inquiry into whether BSkyB is a “fit and proper” owner of a broadcasting licence.

According to the Financial Times, Ofcom set up a team in January to look at evidence from the Leveson inquiry, MPs’ committees and police investigations.

Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation is the biggest BSkyB stakeholder, with a 39% share.

Ofcom began preliminary inquiries into whether BSkyB was a “fit and proper” owner of a broadcasting licence last summer following the phone hacking scandal.
