Computer entertainment giant Sony has unveiled plans for its next generation console, the PlayStation 4.

In addition to having graphics that far exceed consoles currently in the gaming market, the PS4 has been designed with the intention of being much more interactive than the PS3, that was launched in 2007.

Users will be able to share images and videos of their favourite gameplay moments via the DUALSHOCK 4 share feature, which can be uploaded to Facebook with the press of a button.

In addition to social media sharing, users will have the opportunity to live stream their gameplay through Ustream, allowing other users to comment or jump in on the game.

The new controller contains a PlayStation Eye camera to form a motion sensing system that will be able to connect with Smartphones, ultimately enabling phone users and gamers to chat whilst controlling their PS4 devices.

PlayStation has also developed an app for iPhones, iPads and Android devices that acts as a second screen for gamers, meaning that users can view things such as maps, or even other users, whilst continuing to use their PS4.

A Sony spokesperson has said that: “PlayStation 4 is centered on all of you – the gamers. It redefines rich and immersive gameplay with powerful graphics and speed, intelligent personalisation, deeply integrated social capabilities, and innovative second-screen features.”

The PS4 console is scheduled to hit shops at the end of this year.
