ABC August 2011: Mirror Group sees web traffic fall

The UK’s national newspaper websites saw usage figures increase during August, with almost all audited sites recording a rise, with the exception of Mirror Group Digital.

Despite a positive few months prior to August, Mirror Group Digital was the only site to record a decline during the summer month, down -2.9%.

However, all the other websites in our analysis enjoyed a percentage increase. The Telegraph saw the biggest rise, up 9.4%.

guardian.co.uk, meanwhile, witnessed the biggest actual increase – up by almost 249,000 unique browsers.

The Independent‘s site, which saw its daily unique browser count fall by -0.6% in July, made a comeback in August, recording a 6.8% increase.

Meanwhile, the MailOnline remains the UK’s busiest site with 4,404,242 unique browsers each day (on average) after a 3.9% rise.
