ABC May 2012: guardian.co.uk sees a 12% drop

Mail Online continued to rule over the national newspaper’s online offerings in May, according to the latest data released by ABC. The Associated Newspapers site stayed in the top spot but saw the amount of  unique browsers visiting the site daily fall by 43,000 month on month.

Also witnessing a loss in May was guardian.co.uk, which remained in second place. On average 471,202 less unique browsers accessed the site daily, resulting in a MoM decrease of 13% compared to April. The liberal news site observed the biggest percentage and actual loss out of the six national newspaper sites audited by ABC.

May brought good news for Telegraph, which reported a rise in daily unique browsers after losing users in April. The site gained 188,902 daily browsers, with a daily total of 2.5 million.

The biggest percentage growth came from Mirror Group Digital whose daily average rise of 104,000 browsers translated to a 16% change MoM.
