Online news sites experienced a surge in traffic in May, according to the latest ABC results, with all national titles up on the previous month.
Telegraph Online was up by 23% in May to close in on the 5 million mark, while a 16.3% rise in average unique daily browsers netted Trinity Mirror Nationals an extra 610,000.
MailOnline and guardian.co.uk continued to be the top two best-performing news sites, up 1.3% and 4.2%, respectively – with MailOnline seeing its daily audience reach an impressive 13.8 million.
A little further down, The Independent increased its audience to 2.64 million after a 13.1% increase on the previous month, while an 11.2% increase boosted Metro’s online audience by 146,000.
Regional sites Wales Online and Coventry Telegraph were the only two to record a decline in daily browsers, down -0.4% and -4.7%, respectively.
