The latest ABC regional newspaper results, covering the January – June 2013 period, paint a familiar picture with both the regional groups and regional titles down, with few seeing any growth at all.

In the top ten regional newspaper groups by circulation, the Chronicle Newspapers Group was the only to see any increase at all, up just 0.2%.

All of the other groups suffered circulation losses – bar Newsquest Midlands South, which broke even – with Echo Newspapers Free Newspaper Group taking the biggest hit, down 25,000 copies (-14.7%).

Overall, the groups were down -2.7%, recording a total circulation of over 2.9 million for the period.

The top ten newspaper titles fared marginally better, with three titles reporting an increase in circulation.

Bedfordshire on Sunday North Edition and Luton & Dunstable on Sunday were both up 3.2%, while East End Life reported a small lift of 0.3%.

Despite remaining at the top of the table, Nottingham & Long Eaton Topper reported another consecutive loss, down -14.4% – a total circulation drop of almost 25,000.

Hull Advertiser Series – East Hull reported the second biggest percentage loss, down -6.8%, while the remaining titles were all down in circulation by -3.7% or less.

Overall, the titles were down -2.4% – losing almost 33,000 and recording a total figure of 832,827 for the period.
