ABC Results Jan-Jun 2008: Q Magazine Stays Top Of Declining Music Market
Q magazine remained top of the music mags despite a decline of over 17,000 copies year on year for January to June 2008, according to the latest ABC data.
The title, now reports a figure of around 113,000 copies after a significant 13% year on year decline.
IPC’s NME also saw a relatively large percentage drop of more than 17% year on year – losing almost 12,000 copies, leaving its total circulation at just over 56,000.
However, Kerrang! reported the biggest percentage fall, with almost a 28% year on year decrease, losing more than 23,000 copies, which takes it to just over 60,000 copies in total.
Only two of the music titles reported a year on year rise, with The Fly posting an 11% increase to around 105,000 copies, making it the third highest selling magazine in the sector, behind Q and Mojo.
IPC Ignite’s Uncut film and media title was the only other magazine to see an increase, up 1.2% to just under 87,000 copies in total.
All the other title’s reported year on year declines.
Period on period, only three title’s in the sector boasted increases – Mojo, Metal Hammer and The Fly.
As a result, Channelfly Enterprises Ltd’s The Fly was the only music title to see both year on year and period on period rises, in an overall downward trend market.
