ABC Results Jul-Dec 2005:Home Interest Downbeat As 2005 Draws To A Close
The home interest magazine market looked decidedly downbeat in the latest round of ABC results, with the figures for the six months to December 2006 revealing declines in many titles across the sector.
Worst hit was Emap’s Period Living & Traditional Homes, with a decline of 23.3% year on year leaving the magazine’s circulation at 48,792.
Elsewhere rival publisher Cabal Communications also saw a disappointing performance, with its Real Homes Magazine losing 21.5% from its total in the same period.
IPC also suffered, with its Homes & Gardens, Country Homes & Interiors and Living Etc all seeing a downturn in sales year on year. The publisher’s 25 Beautiful Homes bucked the trend for decline, however, adding 0.8% to push its circulation to 113,281.
There were other success stories in the sector, with National Magazine Company’s Country Living adding a healthy 3.3% year on year, to total 191,225. The largest rise was seen by BBC Good Homes, however, which added 4.6% to its sales, now numbering 135,690.
Elsewhere, Homebase Ideas magazine continues to dwarf competition in the home interest sector, with a circulation of 399,984. The magazine, which is paid for within Homebase stores, saw a dip of 10.1% in its sales year on year.
