ABC Results Jul-Dec 2007:Home Interest Sector Reports Overall Optimistic Outlook
It was a relatively stable and optimistic outlook for the home interest sector, with many titles recording upturns in circulation for the six months to December 2007, according to the latest ABC data.
In-store magazine, Homebase Ideas, is the most widely circulated title in the sector at 423,300, following a lift of 1.2% year on year and 1.4% period on period.
Relative newcomer, Ikea Family Live, saw its circulation fall to just over 299,000. This represents a decline of almost 39% period on period.
The only other significant downturns were seen by IPC’s Ideal Home, which shed over 17,100 copies year on year for the period, taking its total to under 214,500, and NatMags’ House Beautiful, which dropped to just over 175,000 copies after a 7% year on year decline.
Essential Publishing’s Your Home reported a significant rise in its final figure. The title added almost 17,500 copies year on year, an almost 17% upturn, taking its final figure to almost 121,000.
IPC’s Country Homes & Interiors and 25 Beautiful Homes were also up, by almost 6,000 copies and over 4,000 copies year on year respectively.
Country Homes & Interiors now reports an ABC of over 86,500 for July to December 2007, whilst 25 Beautiful Homes stands at around 119.500 for the period.
Living etc, which is also an IPC title, grew by 5.5% year on year and 3.6% period on period, whilst Homes & Gardens added almost 2,000 copies year on year. The magazines now report figures of almost 94,000 and over 140,000 respectively.
Conde Nast’s House & Garden now stands at over 143,000, following a 1.4% year on year upturn, while NatMags’ Country Living sits at over 195,000, after adding almost 1,800 issues year on year.
BBC titles, BBC Good Homes and BBC Homes and Antiques, remained relatively static year on year. BBC Good Homes now reports a figure of around 127,200 whilst BBC Homes and Antiques stands at almost 101,000.
