ABC Results July-Dec 2008: RWD bucks the downward trend in the music market

Only three titles in the music magazine sector reported year on year rises in the latest ABC release, for July to December 2008 – RWD, Metal Hammer and Classic Rock.

RWD has seen phenomenal success this year, up by more than 131% and gaining almost 44,000 copies, taking its total to over 77,000.

Future Publishing’s Metal Hammer and Classic Rock also enjoyed significant increases, up 9.7% and 4.1% year on year respectively.

Metal Hammer‘s circulation now stands more than 50,000, while Classic Rock has reached over 70,000 copies.

However, Bauer Consumer Media’s Q magazine remains market leader with more than 103,000 copies, despite suffering a significant 21.6% year on year decline.

Bauer’s Mojo is the only other title to total more than 100,000 copies – though it also experienced a year on year fall, of around 5.4%.

However, Bauer’s Kerrang! suffered the largest percentage decline in the sector, falling by more than 32% to 52,000 copies.

It was also a bad release for NME, which lost more than 15,500 copies, down by 24.3%, taking its total circulation to around 48,000.
