Male advertising accounts managers and creative directors earn on average 15.2% more than their female counterparts, according to new data from the Office for National Statistics.
This equates to respective salaries of £35,965 and £29,897 per year – despite women accounting for 41% of these jobs.
However, the figure is less than the 18.1% national average which is currently at the lowest since records began.
The data comes from a new interactive tool which allows the public to find out the gender pay gaps and average earnings across a wide range of jobs – from manual labour and retail, to media and finance – as well as how many men and women work in each role.
The gender pay gap for CEOs and senior officials is significantly higher than the national average at 28.7%, with men taking home an annual salary of almost £95,500 compared to the average female CEO salary of £65,660.
For journalists, newspaper and periodical editors, men earn £17.57 per hour compared to £16.30 for women – a difference of 7.2%.
Similarly, female advertising and public relations directors are paid 8% less than men.
