Amazon is now selling more e-books on Amazon.com than print or hardback combined, according to paidContent.org.
The company is also enjoying the success of its $114 ad-supported Kindle, which is now the best-selling of the homegrown e-readers.
The total covers all books sold (not free Kindle books) through the Amazon.com site to any customer, including those shopping outside the US.
However, Staci D. Kramner wonders whether this number could have been reached “much sooner if [Amazon’s] digital books could be read outside the Kindle platform”.
